MISA (Manitoba Institute of Sculptors and Artists) was founded in 1989 and remains one of the longest standing art studios in central Canada.
We have four separate areas dedicated to each of the following mediums: stone, ceramics, paint and wood. The MISA studio is located in the basement of a heritage building located in the Exchange District of Winnipeg at 62 Albert Street. We are a cooperative of 19 artists who, with our monthly fees, share both the operational cost of our studio and the capital assets that benefits us all. We enjoy a community of artists ranging from experts in their given field to a few novice individuals as well.
Our logo represents one artist surrounded by such a community. The joy of our group is that everyone is always available for a bit of creative input when asked, willing to problem solve a dilemma when it presents itself or just share a cup of tea or coffee in our lunchroom musing about art, the latest news or plans for an up coming holiday.
Please take a moment to tour the studio. The menu above provides pictures and information on each room at the MISA studio which house a different medium of art creation. Also consider stopping by for a visit during a First Friday in the Exchange evening(click on logo below for more information).
Interested in joining MISA? We currently do not have any available space but if you would like to be on our waiting list or would like more information, please call our Treasurer, Shawn Mahoney @ 204.799.8354.
